While recent developments surrounding the National Youth Sports (NYS) Arizona chapter have taken many Valley residents by surprise, we'd like to clarify our position amidst this unfolding situation. Though we were considering associating with NYS in 2024, given the current issues, we have decided to discontinue any prospective affiliation with the organization.

We understand that many parents, young athletes, and individuals associated with NYS Arizona, like referees, have expressed concerns over the sudden announcement of potential bankruptcy and dissolution of the chapter. We have been fortunate that our association remained unaffected to date, and we emphasize our dedication to transparent communication with all our members.

Stories like that of fifth-grader Santos Hernandez, who enthusiastically played for the Desert Devils and keenly felt the hiatus in his games, underscore the impact such situations can have on young athletes. Many have been left pondering the future of their season, and coaches like Luis Saenz have voiced concerns about the lack of communication and uncertainty surrounding the fate of scheduled games.

It's not just the children who've been affected. We have come across reports of adults, especially referees, facing payment issues, emphasizing the gravity of the situation.

As we always have, we place the interests and well-being of our young athletes and members at the forefront. The intention behind our early decision to distance from NYS Arizona is to ensure the stability and continuity of our own programs, without the shadow of such uncertainties.
